Welcome!

We are glad you found your way to this page, which covers the most-asked questions regarding the securing of our communities at Porto Maho.

As you know, closed access protects residents’ safety, privacy, and quality of life by controlling who enters the community, reducing unauthorized traffic, and helping security respond faster when needed.

Of course there are quite some questions on how this works. We'll try to cover most of them below.

  1. Who is allowed inside the community?
Long & Short term residents, owners, their verified guests, approved service providers, and authorized delivery personnel are permitted entry.
  2. How do residents access the community?
Residents & Owners are issued one RFID headlight sticker per authorized vehicle. The RFID sticker is programmed to automatically open the resident gate when an authorized vehicle approaches. This way you will have quick and unhindered access.
  3. How do I register household members, their vehicles and download the community app?
Submit household members and vehicle information when you place your order in this store. Approved household members will receive an email with app download information and when they can pick up their access credentials and RFID stickers for registered vehicles at the security booth. 4. Can I invite guests?
Yes. Guests should be pre-registered via the community app (available to registered long term residents & Owners only) or by notifying security in advance. Pre-registration speeds up entry and avoids delays at the gate. All guests will have to show ID the first time they enter the community.
  5. What if my guest arrives unannounced?
Unregistered guests will need confirmation from a resident before entry is allowed. Security will contact you for verification on your registered number. If you cannot be reached, and you did not register the guest in the community app, the guest will have to leave their official ID at the guard house to get access.
  6. What about service providers (cleaners, repair techs, contractors)?
Service providers should be pre-authorized through the portal. For regular visits, for example a housekeeper, every registered resident can issue a QR code to the service provider using their community app. This code can be valid for an extended period and is scanned at the guard house to open the gate.
  7. How do I request a new or replacement RFID sticker or reset my app access?
Report lost or damaged credentials to security immediately at security@portomaho.com. Management will deactivate the old credential and issue replacements; a replacement fee may apply.
  8. What happens if I lose my RFID sticker, or the vehicle it is attached to is sold?
Report any loss or change immediately, so the old sticker can be deactivated. You will be issued a replacement after verification, and any applicable fee is paid.
  9. Can I share my access credentials or RFID sticker with others?
No. Sharing stickers, cards, fobs, or login credentials is strictly prohibited and may result in fines, suspension, or revocation of access.
  10. How is community security maintained?
Security staff monitor gates 24/7, supported by CCTV and access logs. The RFID system and entry records help security verify vehicles quickly.
  11. I am a resident/owner but generally drive a rental vehicle since I’m only on island every now and then. I don’t want to get a new RFID sticker every time.
As long as you have an active owner registration in the community platform, you can issue a QR code to yourself, and scan that at the gate.
  12. I rent out my home regularly (e.g. AirBnB). How do I ensure my guests get access.
Make sure you are registered and active on the community platform via <insert link>. Then you can issue a QR code every time you have a guest.
  13. What should I do if I notice suspicious activity or an access problem?
Report it immediately to on-site security (use the emergency number at the gate). For non-urgent issues, contact the management office via email on security@portomaho.com.
  14. When will the gates be closed, and don’t I waste money by paying before they are closed?
The validity period for your RFID sticker will only start when the gates are closed, which is scheduled to happen January 5th, 2026. You can beat the rush by signing up now, and you will not lose any money when you do.
